Producing

What does a Producer even do? Well, when it’s done right, it looks like we did nothing at all. Which led you to ask the question in the first place right? From development to budgeting, picking the territory to film in, tax incentives and how they work, getting the right people involved, reviewing contracts and negations, staffing, overseeing the physical production, getting you through post production and beyond. Budgeting & Production Management

Ok so you got the script, you already have a Producer, but you need to budget the project. What are fringes? Why do I need to pay them? Do I really need insurance? How much is this really going to cost? Who’s managing this? Where does the money go? Overtime? What expendables, isn’t that part of the rental? Do I really need that specific hard drive? Trucks don’t come with unlimited gas? The list goes on and on. Improper budgeting can result in running out of money and your production coming to a standstill.
